He is a firm believer in serving the total person and has worked tirelessly to demonstrate and promote that concept within his congregations and in the community. In addition to leading the Bronx Baptist and Wake-Eden congregations, Rev. Simpson has been instrumental in starting the Honeywell Baptist Chapel, the Grace Baptist Chapel that is an offshoot of the Bronx Baptist Church and the New Hope Mission, Spring Valley, NY and offshoot of the Wake-Eden Community Baptist Church. Rev. Simpson also communicates his strong belief in helping people via the media. He currently writes a weekly column for the Carib News, New York. He has been the subject of three books, "What God Did For Me", "Sam Simpson, Architect of Hope", and "To Dream the Impossible Dream".

He has served in many leadership capacities in the Southern Baptist denomination. Some of them are: President-Baptist Convention of New York for two terms, and Moderator-Metropolitan New York Baptist Association. Other areas of service were: President and Board Chairman-Protestant Bronx Division of the Council of Churches, Chairman of Board and President-Bronx Shepherds Restoration, Board member-Northeastern Bible College, President and Vice-president-Clergy Coalition of the 47th Precinct and several others. Rev. Simpson has been instrumental in the formation of the Shepherds Restoration Corporation, (a group of clergymen who pledged to restore and maintain the quality of life in the South Bronx.) Rev. Simpson has officiated in the presence of world dignitaries, and has traveled extensively.

Awards and recognitions have been many. They include, Air Jamaica National Airlines Award of Excellence, Alumni of the Year-Northeastern Bible College and Man of the Year-Bronx Council of Churches.

Rev. Dr. Samuel G. Simpson is an example of God who is sensitive to the needs of the total being and does something about it, whatever it entails.
